About Me & About this Blog

My most valuable tool is my enthusiasm to bastardize complexity in an attempt to boil it down to something on my level. I like things simply, clearly, and amusingly explained.

This blog has three main intentions:

  1. Understand how computers work.  I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Stanford, but I’m no expert.  When I think I understand something, I usually wake up the next morning and it’s gone.  My studies followed a zigzag line across computer hardware and software.  I took too many advanced courses on topics I didn’t understand and probably have changed by now – but that’s the thrill of it!
  2. Understand how people work.  I’m very interested in sports, health, politics, community organizing, ethnicity, gender studies, neuroscience, human perception, and eating (expect food analogies).  At college, focus wasn’t my strength; I explored many interests outside the classroom.  I served in student groups and dorms, gave them my all.  I learn more from my peers than from anywhere else.
  3. Don’t take anything for granted.  I was privileged with a terrific education and upbringing. Not just that, but everything else:  the technology we use, the food we eat, the lifestyle we enjoy is the result of someone else’s toil.  Everyday I want to stay humble, work hard, and give everything the right amount of appreciation.  So thanks for reading, let’s start at zero and build from there!

Email me at:  jomar270@alumni.stanford.edu.  I always enjoy feedback and hearing from old and new friends.  If you also have writing or projects that I can follow, please let me know.
